Integrated MSc course structure

While studying at IIT Roorkee, I realised that the course structure of Integrated MSc. Physics was lacking certain features and it could be improved by introducing modifications.

For instance a course on Optics preceded a course on Electromagnetism. In Electromagnetism we learn that derivation of  laws of reflection/refraction follows from Maxwell’s equations. Therefore it is necessary to first study the theory of Electromagnetism and understand behaviour of light resulting from equations. Introduction of Optics as an application not only creates a lucid understanding of the subject but also reinforces the notions of Electromagnetism.

With similar considerations in mind, I, along with a fellow student, designed a course structure for Integrated MSc Physics programme.

This led to certain modifications in the course curriculum of Physics.
